The Cart Trails
(Trail 3: Queen's Park and the Southern Suburbs)
This trail starts from the cradle of the Scottish game, Queen's Park, the first home not just of the team of the same name but within months of several others. And from there, just as the game itself did, it radiates out to take in not just the first Hampdens but the early teams that sprang up in neighbouring Crosshill, Govanhill and Maxwell Park and one of the first outriders, Arthurlie of Barrhead. And then there are the players, the footballing talent that for the next 75 years the local catching of the football contagion would produce.
